Welcome to The Depot

The Depot is our main Post-16 training centre in Avonmouth, sited in an airy, open-plan 1950s bus depot. The space gives students freedom to move around, learn in workshops and study in a shared common room.

The Depot has its own wood workshop, a large training and construction floor, a computer suite, private and group learning spaces and a kitchen. It sits next to open green space, with nearby train and bus stations.

Whether students are on a construction, pre-vocational or other BTEC course, 1-to-1 key workers and course specialists support every step. Course content sits alongside life and social skills for a rounded experience.

The Depot works best for children who:

  • Have struggled with the size or pace of mainstream classrooms
  • Are anxious about school and need a calm, predictable environment
  • Have an EHCP, or are being assessed for one
  • Need re-engagement with learning before transition back to mainstream
  • Benefit from small-group teaching and 1:1 support
  • Are working below age-related expectations and need to rebuild basics

Our team is highly trained. Every staff member holds:

Our team continuously develops and updates their skills to provide the safest, best and most up to date experiences for the young people in our care.

All activities are risk assessed and equipment is regularly checked and serviced. We are lucky to have a highly trained and enthusiastic team at Discovery, including qualified teachers and subject specialists who lend their expertise to students across all our centres.
