Welcome to Learning Through Adventure

Learning Through Adventure is our outdoor education department, where students learn through adventure. Activities include mountain biking, climbing, orienteering, paddle sports, archery, bushcraft, river walking and forest school.

Alongside the physical health benefits of activity, time outdoors supports mental health, lowers anxiety and helps build self-confidence. Sessions are led by qualified instructors with strong experience in outdoor education.

Students earn tangible qualifications including AQA Unit Awards and awarding-body certificates in gymnastics, swimming and paddle sports. They leave with qualifications, resilience and an experience of teamwork.

Who Learning Through Adventure is for

Learning Through Adventure works best for children who:

  • Have struggled with the size or pace of mainstream classrooms
  • Are anxious about school and need a calm, predictable environment
  • Have an EHCP, or are being assessed for one
  • Need re-engagement with learning before transition back to mainstream
  • Benefit from small-group teaching and 1:1 support
  • Are working below age-related expectations and need to rebuild basics
