Welcome to The Nest

The Nest is our newest Primary and Secondary centre, in Coombe Dingle. Learning spaces are airy and free-flowing, with our own kitchen, an art room and a gym.

Designed by qualified SEN teachers, The Nest gives students a space to feel safe, calm and supported. Individual learning programmes are built by our teachers and multiple learning spaces let students work independently, in pairs or as part of a larger group.

The site sits five minutes walk from Blaise Castle, so students benefit from regular access to outdoor space alongside their structured learning at the centre.

Who The Nest is for

The Nest works best for children who:

  • Have struggled with the size or pace of mainstream classrooms
  • Are anxious about school and need a calm, predictable environment
  • Have an EHCP, or are being assessed for one
  • Need re-engagement with learning before transition back to mainstream
  • Benefit from small-group teaching and 1:1 support
  • Are working below age-related expectations and need to rebuild basics

Our team is highly trained. Every staff member holds:

  • PREVENT training
  • Covid-19 Prevention

Our team continuously develops and updates their skills to provide the safest, best and most up to date experiences for the young people in our care.

All activities are risk assessed and equipment is regularly checked and serviced. We are lucky to have a highly trained and enthusiastic team at Discovery, including qualified teachers and subject specialists who lend their expertise to students across all our centres.
